I mostly know peace
by its absence
rather than its presence

Inner peace
makes about as much
sense
as
Inner peas
to me
just now

I still want to idealize
peace
as the absence of all
conflict

as if peace
were a place
of calm detachment
you can go to
for a visit
every now and again

Instead
of the striving
the working
the sheer effort
of making
and
being
peace
