Rock Outcroppings and Such

isn’t that a great word?
The very idea that
tons of rock can jut out
and
hang
on the pinion
of the good intentions
of other rocks,
seeming to defy gravity
but actually fulfilling
its dictates,
I find splendid.

To stand over,
above,
on,
beside,
or under
(especially under)
a great outcropping
of rock
is to stand on
some pretty confident,
if not holy,
ground.
